Chibitalia – House To House: PART 2
“Oi! Alfred! No running, mister!” Arthur called angrily to the most energetic twin. Alfred slowed down reluctantly as he and his family made their way around the block, in costume, trick-or-treating. “Good lad.”
They ascended a couple of steps on the porch of one of their neighbours and waited.
The door opened cautiously.
“Hi, Mr. Sanders! I-I mean TWICK-OR-TWEET!”
Arthur held back a chuckle as the elderly man opened the door enthusiastically.
“Oh hello! My! A superhero and a cuddly polar bear! Marvellous costumes.”
“I'm a real hero!” Alfred commented obnoxiously, puffing out his chest. “Can I have sweets, please?”
The elderly man smiled as he handed out hardboiled sweets. They thanked him and moved on to the next house. This time it was a young mother who handed out gummy sweets. “Aww, cute as always, Al and Matt! Your father must feel very safe with such a strong bear and a superhero with him!”
“Oh, I do,” Arthur joked, pretending to be serious for the sake of his boys. It seemed to have the desired effect as his children were pleased. Or they were just glad to get sugary treats.
Arthur refused to escort them around more than ten houses because he needed to settle them down for dinner and bedtime.
Alfred cried when he was told that he could not eat more than one sweet after dinner. His guardian explained that it was for his own good, but Alfred was never very good at being told “No”. Luckily his twin was a natural at calming him down.
Arthur enjoyed Halloween, but Alfred on a sugar high was the real nightmare!
